KNOW YOUR RIGHTS CAMPAIGN
The Know Your Rights Campaign's created engaging content around ACLU information/research for distribution in the midst of
racial justice uprisings.
TRAININGS WITH YCAT
Through our trainings with YCAT, we were able to provide avenues of education in the midst of COVID-19 by collaborating with organizations outside of Kentucky. Our efforts resulted in the creation of 6 curriculums complete with scripts, slides, resources, and support groups.
EARTH WEEK 2020
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, KYYCS hosted a multi-day digital strike.
On April 20, we boosted KSEC and the STAY Project’s a mutual aid fund that supports those who have been most impacted by the coronavirus. Half of the proceeds went towards a mutual aid fund.
On April 21, we supported local initiatives for housing/medicare/food/etc that have arisen in response
to this crisis.
On April 22, Earth Day, we held a social media campaign called #WhyIStrike which consisted of a video of people all around Kentucky sharing their story and why they fight for climate justice.
On April 23, we contacted our representatives and urged them to sign the No Fossil Fuel Money Pledge and Co-Sponser the GND (if federal). We also uplifted those who support our 7 point platform.
On April 24, we phone-banked for former candidate for US Senate, Charles Booker, as he is a great climate activist who recognizes the need for the Green New Deal.
CHARLES BOOKER CAMPAIGN
In April of 2020, Kentucky Youth Climate Strike endorsed Charles Booker for US Senate. Booker supports the Green New Deal, the only blueprint to tackle the crises of climate change.
KYYCS believes that we need leaders like Charles in office, who understands the needs of our diverse commonwealth and prioritizes things like a living wage, Medicare for All, and quality access to education.
Booker signed the #NoFossilFuelMoneyPledge at the September 20th climate strike organized by KY Youth Climate Strike.
